I work intimately with each of my clients to bring forth their most authentic voice and capture, with nuance and precision, the unique ideas and expertise that they are struggling to put into words. I guide everyone I work with to their most meaningful and deep expression by using empathic oral storytelling and co-writing techniques developed over decades of experience working as a reporter, editor, manager and trainer in journalism.
The process begins with a guided discussion about the topic, purpose and goals of a piece of writing, which could be practically anything. I’ve helped people write everything from website content to describe their small business or TED-like talks, to specialist journal articles or Master’s and PhD dissertations.
I strive to create a safe, unencumbered space where conversation can flow and during the process, I will scribe many of the key words you use and help you weave them into beautiful, effortless prose. There is great power in hearing your ideas reflected back to you and seeing them written on a page. Again and again, I have witnessed how this unlocks creativity and confidence.
Daliah's Mission
My mission is to show BIPOC academics, professionals, creatives or entrepreneurs, especially women, that they need not struggle in solitude to find words to express their ideas and visions. The world is constantly, and harmfully, conspiring to convince us that creativity happens in isolation and if you cannot do it alone, that there is something wrong with you. And yet, even in the ultimate creative process — giving birth — there can be a midwife to support the drawing out the new life that has been growing within.
Many women get stuck in the darkness of not knowing what to say and end up with premature expression that lacks clarity and precision. I remember being in that darkness as a young journalist in Cairo spending day and night agonising over how to formulate clear ideas and then find the words to express their subtlety. This can feel painful and defeating, especially for BIPOC people who already carry a heavier burden of proving their worth in their fields.
With much agony and little help, I persisted and over more than two decades of writing and editing professionally and creatively, I have excavated an ever-deepening channel to expression. I will sit with you in that darkness and accompany you in a journey of excavation to uncover the jewels of expression that lie in potential within you. As an intuitive and deeply empathic co-creative partner, I use oral storytelling prompts to tune into what you want to say and collaboratively draw out your ideas with a nuance and a clarity that is true to your uniqueness.
The clients who tend to find me are women, in particular BIPOC women, who may not even be aware of the full potential of what they have to offer because they have borne so much in silence and repression. They are quiet experts who do not realise their genius. They are the superheroes in their fields of expertise who haven’t been audacious enough to claim their place in their world because they do not have the words that empower them to speak clearly with confidence. Together we will co-create a space where the concepts and ideas that are part of your unique revelation can become manifest in words.
